This program is an outreach tool for Women For Women International. It was shot in seven countries that Women for Women International has chapter offices: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo (in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia), Rwanda, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Colombia, and Iraq. It was shot by Zainab Salbi and Women for Women International field workers.
Zainab Salbi, founder and president of the organization, wrote the script for the program. The script leads the viewer through the experience of a refugee woman and the graphic reality of experiencing war first hand in one's homeland: fleeing for your life a in a war-torn country, from rape and persecution, becoming a refugee woman, and life in the refugee camps. UNHCR (The United Nations High Commission for Refugees) provided statistical information regarding the living conditions and atrocities refugee woman face globally. The production chronicles the scope of Women For Women International's outreach programs.
Insight provided pro bono assistance with all aspects of program development to include: pre-production, postproduction, and mastering for international outreach distribution. Women for Women International provided the footage. To date this program has been distributed internationally to: the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the United States, Australia, and the Soroptimist International, Women for Women International supporters and offices located in the countries where their programs are based.
Women for Women International provides women survivors of war, civil strife and other conflicts with the tools and resources to move from crisis and poverty into stability and self-sufficiency, thereby promoting viable civil societies.
